Alumni Seminar
As advocates of lifelong learning, STI Alumni Association supports its graduates in their journey to success by creating opportunities for the graduates to make connections, learn more from the industry, and become better professionals.
The STI Alumni Continuing Education Seminar is a learning experience that will grant STI graduates an opportunity to gain personal and professional development. Entitled UPLIFT! Establishing Connection, Achieving Productivity & Leading with Relevance, the event featured two well-established industry professionals who gave inside tips on how to succeed in this ever-shifting and progressing professional setting. The seminar opened its doors to 300 members of STIAA and was held on February 6, 2016 at the 7th Floor, Multipurpose Hall of STI the Academic Center Global City in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
“When our students are with us, we give them an updated and relevant education because we stand by our cause to prepare them for their future. Now that they are graduates, they are still regarded as members of the STI community, thus we continue to find ways to train them. However, instead of using books and our courseware, we use motivation as a tool for them to become better in whatever venture they are pursuing. It may mean making new acquaintances to establish a strong network of people whom they can collaborate with, developing one’s skills, and finding the drive to reach one’s goals,” shares STI Vice President for Academics Dr. Lloyd Bautista in a statement.
One of the guest speakers was Weena Christine Cortes, a motivator for professional development. She has 18 years of working experience as a training consultant in Business Development, Operations, Marketing, and Sales in five-star hotels, both locally and abroad. She is the Founder and Managing Director of ConsultAsia Professional Solutions, Inc. (CPSI), a local Business/Human Resources Solutions provider to various businesses in the country, and runs a separate training company that caters to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Anthony Pangilinan, on the other hand, is a key speaker who shared his knowledge about the current environment of the industry, keeping connections with other people, personal growth, managing resources, and setting priorities. An accomplished businessman, he is the Chairman and Chief Distributor of Businessworks, Inc., a training and consultancy firm, and the Founding Head of the PLDT-Smart Foundation. He is also an in-demand international speaker and a trainer and management consultant for various companies in over 70 countries. Moreover, he was a prominent figure as a newscaster and currently the Program Designer and Host of “Magbago Tayo,” a weekly program in Radyo Singko and Aksyon TV of TV5. Anthony is a recipient of two Anvil Awards for innovative educational campaigns for parents and the youth.
